Levi Strauss & Co. is an American clothing company known worldwide for its Levi's jeans brand. The company was founded in May 1853 by German-Jewish immigrant Levi Strauss. He moved from Buttenheim, Bavaria, to San Francisco, California, to open the West Coast branch of his brothers' New York drugstore. Although the company is incorporated in Delaware, its headquarters are located at Levi's Plaza in San Francisco.
