Asics Gel-NYC 2.0

The Japanese brand Asics has evolved from the running track, and this heritage is reflected in the men's sneakers Asics Gel-NYC 2.0 in the colorway Cocoa Powder/Brown Storm. The model Gel-NYC 2.0 translates the technical aesthetics of retro running shoes into the everyday wardrobe. The layered upper in muted brown tones appears calm yet sophisticated. If you are searching for men's sneakers that you can wear from morning to evening while possessing their own character, this model is the perfect fit for you.

The upper combines synthetic materials, textile, and suede, creating an intriguing texture where breathable sections alternate with sturdier overlays. The midsole features the cushioning technology GEL™, which softens impacts, working in tandem with the FF Blast+ foam that provides lightness and a responsive stride. The rubber outsole ensures reliable grip on urban surfaces, while the low cut leaves the ankle free. These sneakers are best suited for the city. Pair them with straight chinos, relaxed jeans, or cargo pants in earthy tones, complemented by a sweatshirt or a light jacket. Asics was founded in 1949 in Kobe by Kihaichiro Onitsuka, and the brand name derives from the Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano,” meaning a sound mind in a sound body.

Asics Gel-NYC

Modern urban style with running technology from 2023

Introduced in 2023, the ASICS GEL-NYC combines the aesthetics of archival running shoes with modern urban design. It takes inspiration from the silhouettes of the GEL-Nimbus 3 and GEL-MC Plus, creating a distinctive "tech runner" sneaker suitable for all-day wear. The midsole uses a combination of GEL™ cushioning and lightweight FF BLAST™ foam to provide excellent shock absorption, flexibility and comfort. The breathable mesh upper complemented by synthetic overlays offers the ideal combination of lightness, support and durability. A rugged rubber outsole with a distinctive pattern provides confidence on urban surfaces.

TheASICS GEL-NYC is the ideal choice for lovers of modern streetwear, technical retro running models and active lifestyles. They are suitable for work, school, leisure and a day out on the town - wherever you want to combine comfort, stability and distinctive design.

Outfit tip: Team them with cargo pants, loose "parachute" pants or straight denim for an authentic tech-runner vibe. They also work great with an oversized sweatshirt, light jacket or basic tee. For a clean and modern look, try monochromatic outfits - GEL-NYC will become a dominant style element.

Materials

UpperSuedeSuedeFine natural leather with a brushed finish that features a soft feel and elegant look. It offers good breathability and high wearing comfort, while gradually adapting to the shape of the foot. The material is both durable and flexible, ensuring comfort in everyday use. Suede is the ideal choice for footwear where the emphasis is on style, comfort and timeless design. / TextileTextileTextile uppers are a lightweight and highly breathable upper construction solution that uses woven or knitted structures of natural and synthetic fibres. This type of upper is valued in the footwear industry for its extraordinary ability to adapt to the shape of the foot, minimising the formation of blisters and ensuring high user comfort. Thanks to the porous structure of the material, textile uppers allow for efficient heat and moisture dissipation, which is crucial for maintaining an optimal microclimate even under increased physical stress. In addition, modern textile processing technologies allow reinforcement zones to be integrated directly into the knit, achieving an ideal balance between stability and flexibility. / SyntheticsSyntheticsThe material of the upper includes a wide range of man-made fibres and laminates that are designed to overcome the limits of natural materials. The main advantages are low weight, high strength and fast drying ability. Modern synthetic materials are often developed with an emphasis on breathability and resistance to external influences such as moisture or mechanical damage. Thanks to their technological variability, they allow the production of specific textures and structures that provide the foot with the necessary support and flexibility while maintaining easy maintenance.
MidsoleFF Blast+FF Blast+Enhanced ASICS cushioning foam in the midsole. Compared to the FF BLAST, it is lighter and softer, with a higher energy return - the impact is softer and the reflection more vivid. ASICS reports about 15% better cushioning and more "bounce" in stride, making it suitable for both comfortable and brisk workouts. / GEL™GEL™Silicone gel technology in the midsole, developed in 1986. The gel inserts - located in both the heel and forefoot - effectively absorb shock, dissipate vibrations and ensure a smooth stride transition. The combination of GEL™ with foam layers promotes comfort, stability and natural movement.
SoleRubberRubberIt is one of the most widely used materials for the production of soles due to its high mechanical resistance and durability. The main advantage of rubber soles is their excellent grip (traction) on different types of surfaces, which minimises the risk of slipping. The material is naturally flexible, waterproof and effectively absorbs shocks during walking. Depending on the compound, the rubber can be either soft for better contact with the ground or hard for maximum abrasion resistance on rough terrain.

Asics is a brand that is based on the idea of "In a healthy body, a healthy spirit." Its name is an abbreviation of an old Latin saying. The first Asics shoes were made in 1949 by Japanese entrepreneur Kihachiro Onitsuka. His goal was to create quality shoes for athletes that would help them perform better. He used the Onitsuka Tiger logo on his shoes, which symbolized speed and strength. The logo became known worldwide when Olympic medalists like Abebe Bikila and Derek Clayton wore it.

Nowadays, Asics also offers streetwear shoes that feature great design and comfort. For example, the Asics Gel-Kayano 5 and Asics Gel-Kinsei models are popular for their stylish looks and Asics Gel cushioning technology, which uses gel insoles for better comfort and cushioning.

Asics also collaborated with designer Sean Wotherspoon on the Asics Gel-Lyte 3, which is an iconic model in the streetwear scene. You can find this model and many others at Queens in both men's and women's versions.
